sunnies & seersucker

Sonny & Cher, peanut butter & jelly, Maddie & sale

Some things are just meant to be pairs, and today I think I found a new one.

I call it “sunnies and seersucker”.

This week, I have had a bad case of the the vacation blues. Seven days of nothing to do but whatever-the-heck-you-want makes getting back to the daily grind of life an icy reality check.

I dug this cute little sundress deep from the depths of my closet, in pursuit of something sweet, fun, and all-American. If anything can cheer me up, it’s a little (or a lot) of closet shopping.

I think this one did the trick nicely.

These cute sunnies are brand spankin’ new and my very favorites. Thank you Target for another stroke of genius. This pair has the magical ability to make me feel (a teeny bit) like a glamorous old movie star.

(In her younger days, that is)

Even though I was born the colors of the American flag (red hair, blue eyes, white skin), a little red lipstick makes a blue and white dress that much more patriotic.

A bow in the back adds some pretty little detail.bits8.jpgbits7.jpg

One of my favorite summer staples: to say that I wear these sandals almost every day would NOT be an exaggeration.

Remember folks: if you’re ever stuck with a case of the vacation blues, look to the depths of your closet. You never know what you might find..

(hint hint it might be better than clothes: pockets are great for pennies and peppermints)

lazy pool days, fresh fuzzy peaches, hiking adventures, mosquito bites

Some of my favorite (and not so favorite) parts of the year mean only one thing:

My life has screeched to a slow walk, but I don’t hate it. There is finally room for gossip girl marathons, hour long breakfasts, and time with my old friends and 3 fabulous sisters. It is good to be home.

With more time comes new hobbies. If you consider pinterest worthy of that title…

Pinteresting, as I like to call it, has become one of my very favorite things to do over the past few weeks. After a long day of explaining Jambalaya and fried alligator to hungry people, nothing quite beats a little window shopping. Except for there aren’t actually any windows. And you do not even have to move.

Oh yes, and to avoid confusion, I work at a Cajun restaurant.

Anyways, here are some of the delightful things I have discovered over the past few weeks.

Check out my pinterest for lots more of my favorite things. I promise you won’t hate it.
